Sunesh Rodrigo, a student of the MBA programme at the Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) has been selected to cover the US presidential election which is heading to be a very close call.
Sunesh has been selected to follow ‘The Road to the Whitehouse’ on a fellowship awarded by the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) which is a premier professional exchange programme of the US State department. This Programme seeks to build a mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to the U.S. for current and emerging foreign leaders. Since its inception in 1940, thousands of distinguished individuals have participated at this programme. Sunesh is the only Sri Lankan journalist to be selected for this prestigious award in 2012. He is scheduled to meet several top diplomats, policy makers and politicians both in Washington DC and New York. It is noteworthy that the Department of State will also facilitate a trip to Illinois, President Barack Obama’s home state as well.
At the age of 25, Sunesh Rodrigo became the youngest Head of News of a broadcasting Network in Sri Lanka. Presently Heading the News at TNL Radio Network, Sunesh had his primary and secondary education at St. Benedicts College, Kotahena.
Sunesh who is currently reading for his MBA from the University of Wales at IIHE stated that the confidence that he has gained through integrated holistic learning and exposure to cutting edge knowledge had propelled him to aspire for greater things. Sunesh confirms that the MBA Programme at IIHE has strengthened his self belief while transforming him to a world class professional. This has enabled him to rub shoulders with the best in the world on the global stage. Sunesh has not only done himself to proud with his achievements but has also brought great honour to the country.
